Ex-VP Al Gore FINALLY outshadowed ex-boss Bill Clinton by getting blown in front of a televised audience of what was advertised as a billion+ people at the Academy Awards by a lesbian, a scion of one of America's great industrialist families, and heartthrob actor Leo DiCaprio! This awe-inspiring performance of pure virility, perhaps more appropriate to the Adult Film Awards, should put to rest once and for all the question of who the REAL alpha chimp is in that particular tribe. Who woulda thought that fat, seemingly boring ol' "Lock Box Al" would be such a smooth talking player?! Bill "Bubba" Clinton, with his Monica and string of rape accusers isn't even in the same league as Al "Ludacris" Gore...
Imagine my relief to find that the Oscars this year were "Green", which apparently meant hybrid limousines and using slightly less power than necessary to light Des Moines for a year instead of, say, Duluth. That is my kinda Green. I can relate to the "Episcopalian Guilt" of the Hollywood Environmental Movement.
I especially enjoyed Melissa Etheridge and Al proselytize us that this was not a Red Versus Blue issue, but rather a Moral Issue... all to great applause from members of the Academy.... without a doubt the most over-indulged group of people in the history of planet, and the biggest users of energy per capita, by at least two orders of magnitude, to EVER exist!
Of course, I was also relieved to find out that the definition of "Documentary- Feature Length" by the Academy now reads "Most Popular Left Wing Agit Prop", after "Fahrenheit 9/11" and now "An Inconvenient Truth" have walked away with this award in recent years. Revolutionary, really, since neither deal with facts objectively. I don't really know where "Feature Film" and "Documentary" differ anymore, isnce you can make stuff up in each. I guess Borat is a Documentarian. I might suggest that the Academy rename this particular award the "Joseph Goebbels Award for Documentary Film" as a homage to the father of the craft, kinda like they do with the "Irving Thalberg Award for Lifetime Achievment".
Let's remind ourselves what they want from us. They want us to sign a treaty that, without dispute from either side, is estimated to cost 3% of our annual GDP ($375 billion) for a reduction of global temperatures 50 years from now of... drumroll please.... 0.13 degrees Fahrenheit, which, incidentally, is below the "noise level" of the system itself...
Perspective? 2008 forecasted Department of Defense spending is $585 billion, $506 billion for Social Security, $869 billion for Medicare and Medicaid, $469 billion on interest to the Public Debt, and now an unfunded mandate passed onto all industry (and passed on to you as higher prices) of another $375 billion dollars for what is nothing more than a PR campaign... A PR campaign where you stuff C-Notes into envelopes and send them to the first 1000 names in the Lagos phone book asking the recipient to "please like me" in return. This message is essentially all it takes to get you blown by all Hollywood.
As the protagonist in the Best Costume Award winner at the Academy Awards was famous for saying...."Let them eat cake".
