Ok, I can see why a lot of Democrats might support the Waxman-Markey Climate Change Bill. It puts ultimate power over American Industry in the hands of Federal bureaucrats... it is the Democratic end game, really. What I can't understand is how a Texas Democrat could support this pap smear of a Bill. This Bill puts a gun to the head of Texas and pulls the trigger.
These are those folks. Democrat First, Texan Last. Remember come November. Hold them accountable.

I hope your vote come back to choke each of you. I hope each of you gets to experience private life under the rules you impose on the rest of us. Wouldn't THAT be delightful!
Choke, one’s position on cap and trade generally boils down to one’s position on global warming. You have expressed the position that global warming is a hoax, so it stands to reason that you would oppose cap and trade. However, for the majority of Americans, global warming is a reality. For America to lead, we must first get our house in order. WMD lies, torture, collapsed economy,…etc., has nullified our nations ability to lead. In order to restore integrity to the American way, we must make some sacrifices. There is more to the American way of life than grabbing the most cash in the fastest way. The reason our government is expanding is because the capitalist system failed to regulate itself, and sold America down the tubes for a quick buck. Look at the bright side. Here is your chance to get behind Henry Waxman.

"What I can't understand is how a Texas Democrat could support this pap smear of a Bill."
Surprised? When the legislature was set to convene, she (Molly Ivins) warned her readers: “Every village is about to lose its idiot.”
"However, for the majority of Americans, global warming is a reality."
Not only is that true, but it does not matter if it IS true. At one point the majority of Americans thought the government of Iraq was responsible for 9/11. If you find yourself with the majority on ANY issue, it is time to double-check your facts and logic.

Good point Fred, however there is a big difference between making a judgment regarding the intent of foreign governments and climate change. The evidence regarding climate change is available for all of to see, close up. After additional review of this bill, I am feeling it does not go far enough.

About global warming, I have noticed in my short life that there is a direct correlation between the sun coming up in the morning and the temperature rising throughout the day.
Almost anyone down in Rockport will agree with me on this point. Most people in Fulton will agree with me that over the billions of years that this piece of rock has been accelerating around in space, the climate of the planet has changed significantly prior to the existence of the Homo sapiens sapiens.
It is amazing that these two widely agreed on considerations are dismissed as irrelevant and the only solution is to give all control to our overlords in DC.
I think the current societal and political situation is akin to an individual with suicidal thoughts, I truly wonder if this country is about to become a statistic in history. More and more, I think Kunstler is correct about the future.

Scott... you crack me up. You hate the fact that the State makes you register to be a geoscientist (As do I), looking at that as a step towards totalitarian control, yet you are anxious to cede our entire economy to these useful idiots. I would agree with you about the global warming angle, IF this legislation had any effect on it whatsoever, but even "anthropogenic global warming is a major cause of climate change" believers know that this legislation is useless in that regard.

Choke, as the lawyers/fake oil men say…this is a distinction with a difference. Over the past decade, the government has been extreme in it’s regulation of labor or the “small guy”. Texas has decided to regulate the labor force while the State, local and national government has decided to deregulate the financial and industrial sector. It’s about time the script was flipped!!

Choke, If you think working in private enterprise under a politician designed set of rules is tough, you should try to be a fed employee working under a set of rules designed by politicians, lawyers, and the voting public.
That right there is the ultimate challenge to sobriety.
