Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., asked Sotomayor, in her confirmation hearings, about a 2004 opinion of hers that stated "the right to possess a gun is clearly not a fundamental right." I like Tim Coburn. He thinks in a straightforward manner. None of this "Depends on what the meaning of 'is' is" kind of stuff. He asked her how she cannot recognize the 2nd Amendment's "right to keep and bear arms" as fundamental, yet hold dearly onto a Constitutionally unexpressed "right to privacy" as per Roe V. Wade etc. as an absolute fundamental right. Her reply? "Is there a constitutional right to self-defense? And I can't think of one. I could be wrong, but I can't think of one." This, from the Party that decried the loss of individual liberty and rights under big, bad George "the Boogeyman" Bush. I guess they don't think self defense is a right.
Makes you wonder what Sotomayor would do if she or her family was in need of "self-defense", maybe throw a book or use her gavel. Shows how stupid Mike Judge is, we did not need any stinkin' 500 years to become an idiocracy. go team or whatever
