In light of the disaster and loss of life predicated by the sinking of the Transocean Horizon, I think business people the US over can sleep well knowing that Uncle Sam is there to provide emergency help via the military and national guard to "Keep the Boot on the Neck" of business. Then, graciously, they will charge your business for this help. Gee, thanks.
Let's see. American business provides ALL real GDP; it provides ALL employment that creates GDP growth; it works every day to LOWER costs to consumers because it is competitive; it works every day to provide MORE choices for consumer dollars. In essence, it provides EVERYTHING. And yet, we are conditioned to be scared of it. Evidently to the point that we take comfort in having a Government "Boot at it's throat". Nice Fascist connotation to that statement. Thank God Salazar didn't say "Jackboot at it's throat". Imagine Bush saying that about Code Pink? Or Earth First? You know, the groups that don't contribute anything to your way of life?
I wonder how "Beyond Petroleum" BP feels today?
Wow….Very nice choke. You have just taken Orwellian prophecy to new level, using Orwellian metaphor to show a divide between business and government. Nothing could be farther from the truth. This discord only exists at the low levels of business. At the high levels, business is government. Just look at Goldam Sachs or Halliburton. They morph into government. They put their top guys in key government postions, wipe out the competition, get the ultimate sweetheart deals from government and then jump back into the private sector. Now it is true big business and government want you to think they are at war, but nothing is farther from the truth. The jackboot is moving closer to the throat, that is for sure, but big business/government is wearing the brown shirt. The thing I find interesting is that most of the free market guys are not nearly rich enough to ultimately benefit from the free market policies.
